Description

Getting Covid-19 Vaccinations and boosters is an important step you can take to protect yourself, your kaumaatua and whaanau from the effects of the virus.

A second Covid-19 booster is now highly recommended and available for those at increased risk of severe illness from COVID-19. The second booster can be given a minimum of 6 months after the first booster dose.

People who are strongly recommended to have a second booster are:

  • Maori and Pacific peoples aged 50 years and over
  • Residents of aged care and disability facilities
  • People aged over 65 years
  • Severely immunocompromised people (for whom this would be their 5th injection)
  • People aged 16 years or over who live with disability with significant complex health needs or multiple health conditions

In addition, a second Covid-19 booster is available for:

  • Health, aged care and disability workers over the age of 30 years
  • All people over 50 years

Flu & MMR Vaccinations:

All our vaccination centres are now also offering the influenza & MMR vaccine.

The influenza vaccine will be offered for anyone eligible for the free flu vaccine aged 3 and over (please take younger children to your GP), and the MMR vaccine for anyone eligible.  Greenwood Vaccination Centre can provide all childhood immunisations from birth onwards, other Waikato DHB clinics can provide MMR for children aged 3 and over. Your GP can assist with children younger than 3 years in these areas.

Boostrix:

The Boostrix Vaccine will be offered for pregnant women. This vaccination is only available at the Greenwood Centre, 41 - 43 Bandon Street, Frankton, Hamilton. This site is a Drive-Thru and does not require an appointment. Please see the site details for vaccination days.

The Novavax vaccine is only available at the:

  • Waikato Hospital Pharmacy Vaccination Centre

Appointments are only available via Book My Vaccine

A prescription is required for Novavax if this is not your first dose.

PLEASE NOTE: The majority of routine vaccinations can now be administered before, after, or at the same time as your COVID-19 vaccinations. The exception to this is the Zostavax (shingles) vaccine where a 7-day gap before or after receiving the Pfizer COVID-19 is advised. If you have any questions, please discuss with your health provider.

Covid Vaccinations for 5 to 15-year-olds

A message to parents and caregivers

If you are adding a 5 to 15-year old to your own booking, please call 0800 28 29 26 (8am-8pm, 7 days a week) before you come to check if the vaccination site has space to do this. If not, you can cancel your booking and create a new one later that can fit you all in.

There is no guarantee vaccination sites will be able to take extra family members alongside people who already have a booking. Some are quite small and it depends on how many other people are booked in around the same time.

Everyone in New Zealand aged  5+ is now eligible for their free Covid-19 vaccination.

We are now taking walk-ins. Our ability to vaccinate walk-ins depends on bookings on the day so to reserve your slot, you can also book online at bookmyvaccine.nz or phone 0800 28 29 26.

  • 2m physical distancing mandatory
  • You must wear a face mask throughout the vaccination process
