The information you provide when you go to get vaccinated will be recorded in the Ministry of Health’s COVID Immunisation Register.

The Register keeps a record of immunisations for individuals, and provides information about immunisation coverage across the country.

Only those people with a role in managing this vaccine programme and related administration can see, add or change the information held in the Register. Everyone who can access the Register has been trained to keep the information safe.

Kāore te rongoā āraimate rewharewha ārai i te KOWHEORI-19 The flu vaccine cannot protect you from COVID-19

The regular flu vaccination does not provide immunity to or protection from COVID-19. While they are both viral infections, the viruses belong to two separate groups.

Similarly, a COVID-19 vaccine will not provide protection from the flu.

If you want to, you can get both the COVID-19 and flu vaccinations at the same time.

Kai te pakari, kai te ora anō hoki ahau. Me whiwhi ahau i te rongoā āraimate KOWHEORI-19? I’m fit and healthy. Do I need the COVID-19 vaccine?

Yes. COVID-19 is a highly infectious disease. If you’re fit and healthy, you can still get COVID-19 and pass it on to someone else who may become seriously ill.

We are seeing a growing number of whānau dealing with the effects of long COVID. This includes fatigue, breathlessness and chest pain.
